It should be noted that the petition to restore habeas corpus is for terrorist combatants – not US citizens. This is why it’s the ACLU who’s behind this.
Currently, all US citizens are protected by habeas corpus.

Habeas corpus is such a basic right that having to ask for it is already a shame.
And terrorist combatants …. what is that ? A joke-term invented by the Bush administration to avoid treating people like people. Invading a country, capturing their people, sending them to Cuba and saying they now don’t have rights is a shame for all the western countries for accepting such a claim and for the US citizens for allowing their president to get away with it.
Ohh, and you forgot that Padilla is a US citizen, and last time I check he wasn’t protected by Habeas Corpus either. You cannot let your Government decide who has the right ….
